Building a platform from the ground up

2018 - Today

During 2018, I worked as a Tera teacher in design courses and was invited to establish a team to create a digital ecosystem that caters to the needs of modern education. Since then, as the Head of Design, I have led the group through many challenges and achievements, ultimately leading to the evolution of Tera's educational platform. The following paragraphs overview the platform's progression and our strategic responses to changing educational paradigms and market demands.


2018: Zero to One

Initially, the platform was created to guide students enrolled in on-site courses. The goal was to streamline the learning process and solve the primary student's pain: consolidate all relevant documentation in one accessible space, offered at that time by multiple sources such as Notion, Google Docs and e-mail. This foundational version laid the groundwork for Tera's digital presence and set the stage for future innovations.


2019 & 2020: Design to Adapt and Survive Against COVID-19

During the COVID-19 emergency, we had to adapt to the new circumstances quickly. In just 15 days, we transformed our platform into a hybrid experience that combined digital learning with some of the best aspects of physical classrooms. We blended video classes with live encounters via Zoom, resulting in a seamless learning experience. 


Between 2019 and 2020, over six months, we produced over 500 hours of video content to support the new learning journey. As the creative director for audiovisual experience, I worked closely with teachers, writers, educational specialists, and other creative individuals to ensure the content was top-notch.


2022: Asynchronous Learning for Unprecedented Growth

For the first time after 6 years, we pivoted towards 100% asynchronous learning (with optional complementary live classes) to cater to a broader audience, substantially increasing student enrollment. Our team reimagined the platform, accommodating self-paced learning modules and interactive resources, reinforcing Tera's position as an industry leader in Brazil's product management and design education.


2023: Embracing Change with a Complete Redesign

In response to the dynamic demands of the educational landscape, Tera underwent a holistic redesign in 2023. The platform was restructured to align seamlessly with our new annual subscription business model. This redesign enhanced user experience and facilitated a smooth transition for existing and new subscribers. The intuitive interface and personalized learning pathways reaffirm Tera's commitment to providing unparalleled educational value to our students.


Conclusion: Driving Success Through Strategic Design

The evolution of our educational platform serves as a testament to our unwavering commitment to innovation and excellence. Employing a strategic design thinking approach, we tackled every challenge creatively and precisely, ensuring that our platform remains at the forefront of the industry. 


Our design team's collaborative efforts and visionary approach to progressive education have propelled our platform to unprecedented heights. As a leader in our design team, I take great pride in my contribution to advancing our vision for learning and fostering a culture of excellence in education.
